First Chair Ventures is a boutique investment firm that seeks partnerships with seed and early-stage companies in the media, technology and consumer product markets. In addition to providing portfolio companies with capital, the team at First Chair lends vertical expertise and mentorship through its deep network of angels, CEOs and seasoned entrepreneurs.

INVESTMENT FOCUS

First Chair invests in early-stage companies led by exceptional founders and management teams with disruptive and unique products, protectable intellectual property, and a clearly articulated strategy and scalable business model.

We prefer early-stage and start-up companies seeking a first-round investment of $50k-$1mm, with a typical valuation at first funding below $5mm. Our portfolio companies typically have between $500k-$5mm in trailing 12 month sales, or a well-defined roadmap to achieve such figures, and a clear and viable exit strategy within five years. If the product is still in the beta stage of development, some “proof of concept” revenue is important.

First Chair primarily invests in Colorado-based companies, but makes investments in companies throughout the U.S. when there’s a strategic fit. We do not invest in companies headquartered outside of the U.S.

INVESTORS / TEAM

First Chair is a privately funded company that leverages its vast network of investors, entrepreneurs, CEOs and business leaders to provide teams with the necessary capital, guidance and mentorship to reach their full potential.

First Chair is led by Bradford Fayfield who serves as the company’s Chief Investor, and who manages the First Chair investor network. Fayfield has over 20 years of experience in the entrepreneurial space, dating back to the launch of his first media brands Freeskier and Snowboard magazines in the late 1990s. Today, Fayfield has made investments in more than 25 companies in categories ranging from media and technology, to consumer products, foods and more.
